Jharkhand state was formed on November 15, 2000, after being carved out of Bihar. This state is home to 40% of the natural resources in India. View Of Tata Steel Plant (Jamshedpur)

Jamshedpur

It is the most populous city in Jharkhand. This city is home to India’s largest steel maker, Tata Steel. People often call this city Tatanagar, as it was founded by Jamshedji Tata and a big part of Tata’s business empire is here.

Due to its high steel production, Jamshedpur is also known as “Pittsburgh of India.” The Tata Steel plant occupies 1/5 of the total city area. It is the first planned industrial city in India and has maintained its position as one of the cleanest cities in the country.

Dhanbad

After Jamshedpur, Dhanbad is the second-most populous city in Jharkhand. This city is called the “Coal Capital of India.” One of the largest coal mines is in Dhanbad. Mining is an important activity of this city, and for that reason, the Indian School of Mines was here, which is now known as IIT Dhanbad.

This city is surrounded by 112 coal mines and produces 27.5 million metric tonnes of coal annually. It is also one of the cleanest cities in India. One of the oldest engineering institutes, Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri, is here.

Ranchi

Here comes Ranchi, the state capital of Jharkhand state. It was the centre of the Jharkhand movement, which led to the formation of a new state called Jharkhand. This city is known as the “City of Waterfalls.” During British time, this city was the “Summer Capital Of Bihar” due to its cold climate.

India’s 19th busiest airport, Birsa Munda International Airport, which is also known as Ranchi Airport, is here. Jagannath Temple, IIM Ranchi, Kanke Dam, the Ranchi International Cricket Stadium, and more importantly, the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly are the important landmarks of this city.

Bokaro is also known as Bokaro Steel City. In terms of size, it is the 4th largest city in Jharkhand state. It is also one of the most peaceful cities in India.

Bokaro is a coal-rich city, and people often call it “Steel City” because of the presence of SAIL (Steel Authority of India Limited). SAIL operates one of the largest steel plants in India (Bokaro Steel Plant) in Bokaro since 1965. It was one of the first planned cities in Jharkhand.

Deoghar

Deoghar is a major city in Jharkhand state, known for its pilgrimage and tourists. This city is a holy and sacred place in Hinduism. Baidyanath Temple is here, which is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga sites of Hinduism. This city is a place for the worship of Lord Shiva. In the month of Shravan, it attracts many devotees from India who take gangajal from Sultanganj to Deoghar.

Deoghar city is also known as the “cultural capital of Jharkhand” and “abode of God.” Jharkhand’s second international airport, i.e., Deoghar International Airport, is here and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Naulakkha Temple, Baidyanath Dham, and Tapovan Caves are some of the famous landmarks of this city.
