In the year 2020-21, IOCL reported a huge net profit of $6.1 billion which was highest for any PSUs in the country. Government of India owns 51.5% stakes in IOCL.

One in Kochi s the largest refinery owned by Bharat Petroleum which has a refining capacity of 15.5 million metric tonnes per annum. Government of India owns around 52.8% stakes in BPCL (Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd).
