Which is the world’s tallest statue? The answer is Statue Of Unity situated in Gujarat, India. With a height of 597 feet other statues don’t even come close to this. This statue is dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who played a major role in uniting 562 different princely states to form a one country India.

India’s leading construction company L&T constructed this statue at a cost of ₹2,700 crore. Ram V. Sutar designed it and this statue is an example of Indian engineering skills. More than 3,000 workers and 250 engineers were involved in the construction of this statue on Narmada river.

India’s 2nd largest statue is the Statue Of Equality also known as Ramanuja Statue. This is the world’s 2nd largest sitting statue measuring 216 feet. Vaishnavaite Ramanuja is the inspiration behind this statue who was a 11th century vedic philosopher and promoted the idea of equality.

Ramanuja statue has 108 temples surrounding it and the base building has a vedic digital library, ancient texts and works of the Ramanujacharya. Around ₹1,000 crore were spent in construction of this statue. Major part of the construction cost were donated by devotees. This beautiful sitting statue is in Muchintal, Hyderabad.

Third statue in the list is Hanuman statue at Madapam in Narasannapeta, Andhra Pradesh. This is the largest Hanuman statue in India measuring 176 feet. In Andhra Pradesh the Paritala Anjaneya Temple is also situated. Both temples are dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The Paritala Anjaneya Temple measures 135 feet and it is located in Vijaywada.

Murugan Statue

In Salem district of Tamil Nadu there’s Lord Murugam Statue measuring 146 feet. This statue was constructed by a trust at Puthiragoundanpalayam. A Murugan statue in Malaysia measuring 140 feet inspired the construction of this statue in Salem. One at Salem is taller than the Murugan statue at Malaysia by 6 feet. This statue required 350 tons of steel bars and 300 litres of gold paint. 1,550 cubic metres of concrete were also used in construction.

Vaishno Devi Statue

Maa Vaishno Devi statue is 5th statue in this list. Situated at Vrindavan, height of this statue is 141 feet. Lord Hanuman statue itself is 32 feet tall and his gadda is 26 feet long. Around 400 tonnes of steel and concrete were required to make this beautiful statue dedicated to goddess Vaishno Devi.

Valluvar Statue

Dedicated to the Tamil poet and philosopher Valluvar, this statue is 133 feet tall. It is located in southernmost point of Kanyakumari. V Ganapati Sthapati sculptured it. This statue is prone to sea breezes and so the statue is chemically protected once in every four years. A tsunami in Indian Ocean occurred but the Valluvar statue remain unaffected by it. Many people also call it a Thiruvalluvar Statue.

Dhyan Buddha Statue

In Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh there’s a statue of Gautama Buddha known as Dhyan Buddha. This statue is 125 feet tall and located on the banks of Krishna river in 4.5 acre site. Spiritual leader Dalai Lama itself provided funds for the construction along with Andhra Pradesh government and Tourism Department.

Another major statue of Gautama Buddha is in Gaya and Sikkim. One at Sikkim is known as Tathagata Tsal. People also call it Buddha Park of Ravangla where 130 feet Buddha Statue is constructed. Another one at Gaya measures 80 feet. It is one of the greatest statues in Bihar which is a mix of sandstone blocks and red granite.

Adiyogi Statue

The largest bust sculpture in the world is Adiyogi Statue. This statue is 112 feet tall, 147 feet long and 82 feet wide. Designed by Jaggi Vasudeva, the Adiyogi statue is situated in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Weight of this huge bust statue is 500 tonnes. SAIL (Steel Authority Of India Ltd) itself supplied steels that were used in the construction of this statue.

Delhi Hanuman Statue

A 108 feet tall Hanuman statue in Delhi is the 9th statue in this list. This statue is located at Jhandewalan metro station and has become synonymous to the capital’s landscape. Delhi Metro passes crosses this statue and it is a favourite frame of several bollywood movies. It is the third tallest Hanuman statue in the country.

Jatayu Earth Centre

World’s largest bird sculpture is of Jatayu bird in Jatayu Earth Centre, Chadayamangalam, Kollam, Kerala. This is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Kerala. This sculpture is 200 ft long, 150 feet wide and has a height of 70 feet. Rajiv Anchal sculpted the beautiful Jatayu bird statue.

This statue takes it inspiration from Jatayu who was a demi-god in a form of vulture in Ramayana. According to the epic Ramayana, when Ravan tried to abduct Sita Jatayu fought valiantly. In a battle with Ravana, Jatayu lost his one wing and fell on this place. That’s why this bird sculpture has only one wing.
